Each year, a Training Academy for the Cultural Routes managers, partners and future applicants is organised in close collaboration with one of the certified Cultural Routes of the Council of Europe. The Training Academy aims to provide training on specific current issues in the field of cultural heritage management and tourism promotion to Cultural Routes operators. The Training Academy offers hands-on approaches to the selected topics through the participation of academics and experts. The Training Academy is organised in close collaboration with the European Institute of Cultural Routes and the Cultural Routes University Network. This year, the Training Academy will be organised in Visby, Gotland (Sweden) between 4-7 June 2019, in collaboration with The Hansa, certified Cultural Route of the Council of Europe since 1991.

Preliminary programme:

4 June morning: Registration and Training modules for cultural routes projects and future applicants for certification (definitions and methodology, project phases and criteria, project application, assessment, evaluation and certification)

4 June afternoon: Workshop for local and regional representatives (Gotland, Sweden) with Cultural Routes of the Council of Europe crossing the region (The Hansa, The Viking Routes, The European Route of Jewish Heritage, TRANSROMANICA, The European Cemeteries Route, The Route of Saint Olav Ways, Santiago de Compostela Pilgrim Routes).

5 June morning: Registration for Cultural Routes of the Council of Europe and meeting with the European Institute of Cultural Routes
