The French Ministry of Culture has just created an interactive digital map allowing users to discover the 31 Cultural Routes of the Council of Europe that cross France

This interactive map presents all the routes certified by the Council of Europe in France. Detailed information sheets then allow users to access the detailed interactive map of each route, to discover the cultural and tourist heritage along the proposed routes, photos, landmarks, partners and heritage know-how in the various territories crossed.

31 Cultural Routes in France to follow on foot, by bike or on horseback: Santiago de Compostela, of course, but also the Viking Route, the Via Francigena, the Iron Route in the Pyrenees, Iter Vitis Route, the European Route of Historic Thermal Towns, Destination Napoleon, in the footsteps of R.L. Stevenson, the Impressionisms Route, Liberation Route Europe, Le Corbusier Destinations, the European Route D'Artagnan, and so forth.

On this site, you can also download the recently published brochure on the 31 cultural routes of the Council of Europe that cross France and find all the information on the programme that offers a journey through time and space to discover the tangible and intangible heritage of the territories, which constitute a common European cultural heritage.

France has been a member of the Enlarged Partial Agreement on Cultural Routes of the Council of Europe (EPA) since 2011, and among its founding member States. Today, France is the European country with the largest number of Cultural Routes of the Council of Europe, counting 31 Cultural Routes crossing the country and 14 Cultural Routes having their headquarters across the country.

Mr. Bruno FAVEL, Head of the World Heritage Mission, Directorate General of Heritage and Architecture of Ministry of Culture, and Ms. Orane PROISY, Head of the European Heritage Projects and Networks Department of Ministry of Culture, are the national representatives of France to the EPA on Cultural Routes.
