France: Coordination meeting with national representatives of the Cultural Routes of the Council of Europe

On June 1, the Secretariat of the Cultural Routes of the Council of Europe programme attended an online national coordination meeting with representatives of Cultural Routes of the Council of Europe crossing France, organized by the Ministry of Culture of France.

France has been a member of the Enlarged Partial Agreement on Cultural Routes of the Council of Europe (EPA) since 2011. Of the 45 certified Cultural Routes of the Council of Europe, 31 pass through France. Characterized by a great thematic diversity and the richness of partners involved, they constitute a significant resource for the further development of cultural tourism in the country.

The meeting brought together 27 representatives of certified Cultural Routes, in the presence of representatives of the Council of Europe, the French Ministry of Culture and the Department of Tourism Promotion of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of France. The event highlighted the different Cultural Routes of the Council of Europe crossing the country and their efforts in touristic and cultural promotion. Mr. Stefano DOMINIONI, EPA Executive Secretary and EICR Director, presented the Cultural Routes of the Council of Europe programme, its major activities and events for 2020-2021, funding opportunities, and its mission to strengthen contacts between Certified Routes and member States as well as emblematic actions to promote sustainability and support local communities.
