The second Steering Committee Meeting of EU/CoE Partnership for Good Governance project on “Strengthening institutional capacities to fight and prevent corruption in Armenia” was organised online via videoconferencing due to COVID-19 restrictions. The event was attended by the representatives of the EU Delegation in Armenia, the Council of Europe Secretariat and field office, and key beneficiary institutions of the project, namely the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Armenia, the Corruption Prevention Commission, the Investigative Committee, the General Prosecutor’s Office, the Special Investigative Service and the Police.

The Steering Committee members discussed the implemented, ongoing and planned activities of the project based on the agreed workplan. Participants highlighted the importance of recent anti-corruption reforms and the input of the project, including in the development of anti-corruption legislation and in the establishment and capacity development of the Corruption Prevention Commission. The discussions also allowed to reflect on the challenges faced during the first year of implementation of the project, and to identify new opportunities for collaboration, ensuring the adaptation of the project’s support to the evolving needs of Armenian stakeholders – to optimise the relevance and effectiveness of the Council of Europe’s technical assistance in the anti-corruption field in Armenia.

This activity was organised within the framework of the EU/CoE Partnership for Good Governance II Project on “Strengthening institutional capacities to fight and prevent corruption in Armenia” (PGGII-ARM) which is funded jointly by the European Union and the Council of Europe and implemented by the Council of Europe.
