On 15 December 2020, members of the working group responsible for drafting the new National AML/CFT Strategy discussed together with the Council of Europe consultant and the Action’s team the objectives elaborated in the first draft of the new National AML/CFT Strategy. Members of the National Steering Committee for combating money laundering and financing of terrorism took part in the meeting which gathered representatives of all competent authorities including the Financial Intelligence Office, Financial Police, Customs Office, Securities and Exchange Commission, MAPAS, National Bank, Public Prosecutor’s Office, the Insurance Supervision Agency, Chamber of Notaries and other institutions took part in the meeting.

The special objectives from the Strategy were discussed in depth and all of the comments given by the CoE consultant were considered as valuable by the Working Group., The recommendations will be taken into consideration and will be incorporated to the extent possible into the final draft of the National AML/CFT Strategy.

The Council of Europe/European Union Horizontal Facility II Action against Economic Crime in North Macedonia is supporting beneficiaries through providing recommendations for drafting the National AML/CFT Strategy based on the results of the new NRA.
