Back Workshop on effective implementation of international restrictive measures

A workshop on the effective implementation of international restrictive measures, organized within the Horizontal facility II Action against Economic Crime in Albania, took place in Tirana on 19 December 2019.

More than 30 representatives from the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Albanian Export Control Authority, Bank of Albania, General Directorate for the Prevention of Money Laundering, Albanian Banking Association and commercial banks, increased their awareness on the recently adopted law “On international restrictive measures”, as well as international standards and best practices of the effective implementation of financing and proliferation of weapons of mass destruction.

Participants had the opportunity to discuss various topics covering financing of proliferation standards and typologies, national coordination, the UNSCR framework, supervision, outreach and guidance for the private sector. The Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs presented the workplan approved following the establishment of the inter-institutional working group for the preparation of four bylaws which will allow for the effective implementation of targeted financial sanctions related to proliferation of weapons of mass destructions.
