Support to drafting of Law on Targeted Financial Sanctions for Kosovo*

The joint Council of Europe/European Union Project against Economic Crime in Kosovo* (PECK II) continues to support the working group established by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to draft the Law on Implementation of Targeted Financial Sanctions. The meeting which took place from 3 to 5 October 2018, gathered representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Financial Intelligence Unit, Ministry of Justice, Central Bank, State Prosecution, Police, Customs and Agency for Management of Sequestrated and Confiscated Assets.

Taking into consideration the findings and recommendations provided by the Council of Europe, members of the working group were able to produce a first draft of the law by reflecting international standards and practice regarding targeted financial sanctions, namely Financial Action Task Force (FATF) Recommendations 6 and 7, other FATF guidance as well as related UN Security Council resolutions. The PECK II Project will continue to support the working group with finalization of the law.
