Back Georgian law enforcement professionals discuss counter terrorist financing

Representatives of the Georgian competent authorities attended training on “Investigation and prosecution of terrorist financing (FT) cases” on 27-28 November 2019 in Tbilisi, Georgia. The training was organised in cooperation with the State Security Service of Georgia, included representatives of the State Security Service, Prosecutor’s Office, Investigation Service of the Ministry of Finance, Financial Monitoring Service and judges.

During the training, the participants discussed challenges currently faced in Georgia with handling terrorist financing cases, methods and techniques of efficient investigation and prosecution, importance of inter-agency and transnational co-operation, use of undercover or covert surveillance methods, obtaining and analyzing intelligence and producing evidence in court.

The activity was organized within the EU/CoE Partnership for Good Governance Project “Enhancing the systems of prevention and combating corruption, money laundering and terrorist financing in Georgia” (PGG II-Georgia), launched in January 2019.
