Council of Europe supports developing terrorist financing typologies in Kosovo*

As part of the technical assistance provided under the Council of Europe and European Union Joint Project against Economic Crime (PECK III), the Council of Europe is supporting Kosovo authorities in developing tailored and updated typologies related to financing of terrorism. In this regard, a first consultation meeting took place on 23 February 2021 between the Council of Europe expert and Secretariat and the FIU of Kosovo.

Developing terrorist financing typologies is expected to contribute towards further efficient mitigation of main shortcomings identified within the framework of the assessment process on compliance of Kosovo with international anti-money laundering and combating the financing of terrorism standards including lack of proper understanding of terrorism, insufficient awareness of reporting entities and relevant stakeholders and focus on stand-alone TF prosecution.

These typologies are aimed at improving mitigation and compliance measures and providing better guidance and information to oversight authorities, reporting and other relevant entities in Kosovo.
