Authorities supported to further improve risk indicators involving MVTS, VA and VASPs

The project “Preventing Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing in Serbia” organized a workshop on the development of risk indicators of money laundering, terrorism financing and other predicate offences involving money and value transfer services (MVTS), virtual asset services providers (VASPs) and virtual assets (VAs) on the 9th December 2021 in Belgrade, Serbia.

The workshop gathered representatives of the National Bank of Serbia, Securities Commission and from the Administration for Prevention of Money Laundering to discuss a set of indicators (red flags) that may not be currently sufficiently highlighted in the materials of the National Bank of Serbia or of other supervisor bodies with AML/CFT competences. During the workshop, the Council of Europe international expert presented a first report with a review and with recommendations of other indicators that can help to identify money laundering or terrorism financing operations related with MVTS, VA and VASPS, alongside with practical examples. Following the workshop, the Council of Europe expert will update the list of indicators based on the feedback provided.

The Project “Preventing Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing in Serbia” is funded by Sweden, represented by the Swedish International Development Agency and implemented by the Council of Europe.
