A group of 20 prison and probation professionals from Kosovo* further improved their skills on the utilisation and application of the specific screening and risk and needs assessment tools and the treatment programme for violent extremist prisoners (VEPs) and radicalised inmates, through their participation at a 3-day refreshers training on 09-11 March 2022, in Pristina.
The training session followed the piloting of the above-mentioned tools and programme in two selected prisons in Kosovo*, namely Dubrava and the High Security prison, which was completed in December 2021. Selected training participants will be further-on delivering cascade sessions to their peers from prisons across Kosovo with aim to increase their awareness of the recently introduced approaches in preventing radicalisation and countering violent extremism in prisons.
The hybrid training session, facilitated by two international and one local consultants, was organised within the scope of the Regional action “Enhancing penitentiary capacities in addressing radicalisation in prisons in the Western Balkans” that is a part of the joint European Union/Council of Europe programme “Horizontal Facility for the Western Balkans and Turkey 2019-2022”.
