In connection with the deposit of the instrument of ratification by Denmark of the European Convention for the Protection of Animals during International Transport, it is hereby declared, in accordance with Article 50.1 of the Convention, that until further notice, the Convention shall not apply to the Faroe Islands and to Greenland.

I have the honour, on behalf of the Government of the Federal Republic of Germany, to declare that the Convention will enter into force in respect of the Federal Republic of Germany on 1 July 1974.

Ireland

Reservation contained in a Note Verbale from the Permanent Representative of Ireland, dated 14 March 1975, handed to the Secretary General at the time of deposit of the instrument of ratification, on 14 March 1975 - Or. Engl.

Pursuant to the agreement between the authorities of Ireland and the authorities of the United Kingdom in accordance with the provisions of the European Convention for the Protection of Animals during International Transport, Article 3 of the said Convention shall not apply to transport to Northern Ireland.

The Union of Soviet Socialist Republics declares that the provisions of Article 50 of the European Convention for the Protection of Animals during International Transport, according to which the Parties may extend the Convention to territories for whose international relations they are responsible, should not be used to the detriment of the provisions of Resolution 1514 (XV) on the granting of independence to colonial countries and peoples, adopted by the General Assembly of the United Nations on 14 December l960.
