The Future of Cross-Border Cooperation in Europe

A Joint Conference of the European Commission, the European Committee of the Regions, the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities and the Association of European Border Regions will take place in Brussels on 13 November 2015. It will be opened by Raffaele Cattaneo, Chair of the COTER Commission, Coordinator of the EGTC platform of the European Committee of the Regions and President of the Regional Council of Lombardia; Karl-Heinz Lambertz, President of AEBR, President of the Parliament of the German-Speaking Community of Belgium; Gudrun Mosler-Törnström, President of the Chamber of Regions of the Congress, Vice-President of the Regional Parliament (Landtag) of Salzburg, and Corina Creţu, Commissioner for Regional and Urban Policy. During the conference there will be three workshops: “Cross-border cooperation: corner stone and cement of the European House”; “Cross-border cooperation: added value for cross-border regions and Europe”, and “Future priorities for cross-border cooperation in Europe”. Breda Pecan, Congress Rapporteur on External Borders/Third Countries will address the latter workshop.
