European Local Democracy Week: annual coordination meeting in Strasbourg

The annual coordination meeting of the European Local Democracy Week (ELDW) was held in Strasbourg, France, on 19 February 2019. Some sixty representatives of partner cities from different European countries evaluated the 2018 edition, presented their good practices and discussed the 2019 perspectives for the ELDW.

This meeting was the occasion to announce the appointment of Bryony RUDKIN (SOC, United Kingdom) as Congress spokesperson on the ELDW, succeeding Gaye Doganoglu (EPP/CCE, Turkey) and Barbara Toce (SOC, Italy). The meeting also provided an opportunity to present to the participants the new modalities of the ELDW, following the resolution adopted by the Congress in November 2018, with a view to giving a new dimension to the ELDW initiative, notably to allow more flexibility in the organisation of the Week throughout the year, to better reward initiatives, to encourage the network to exchange good practices and to extend the influence of the ELDW. The draft website and its new discussion forum were presented to the participants.
