A Congress delegation composed of Xavier Cadoret (France, SOC) and Guilherme Pinto (Portugal, SOC) carried out a monitoring visit from 9 to 11 September 2014 to Norway with a view to examining the follow-up given to the commitments made by this country in the area of local and regional democracy and decentralisation when it ratified the European Charter of Local Self-Government in 1993. High level meetings were scheduled in Oslo, in particular with Jan Tore Sanner, Minister of Local Government and Modernisation and Siv Jensen, Minister of Finance. The delegation also met with representatives of the Municipality of Oslo, Nome, and Bergen, as well as representatives of the Counties of Hordaland and Telemark.
