Congress supports Communities Association of Armenia to strengthen its Secretariat

The Congress and the Communities Association of Armenia (CAA) have reached an agreement aimed at strengthening the human resources and institutional capacity of the CAA Secretariat in its role of a unified voice of all communities of Armenia.

This support will be provided through a grant in the framework of the project “Strengthening the Communities Association of Armenia and Transparent, Participatory Local Governance in Armenia” implemented by the Congress with the financial support of the Swiss government, as part of the Council of Europe Action Plan for Armenia 2019-2022.

This is the third grant in the framework of continued support from the Congress to strengthen the capacities of the CAA Secretariat in responding to the needs of member communities. The grant will also support the Association in acquiring the necessary communication tools to ensure a regular and effective consultation mechanism between local authorities within their national association as well as with national authorities, which is of particular importance in the context of the current COVID-19 crisis.

The Communities Association of Armenia has been benefiting from Congress support since 2014, through the co-operation project “Institutional Support to the Communities Association of Armenia” (2014-2019) and the current project aimed at improving the quality of local democracy in Armenia and enhancing citizens’ confidence and trust in local authorities through greater voice, accountability, effectiveness and inclusiveness of the local self-government bodies.
