In the wake of the deadly terrorist attacks on Saturday 10 October in Ankara, Jean-Claude Frécon wrote to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkey to condemn this barbarity and express his condolences. 'On behalf of all of the members of the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of the Council of Europe, I would like to express our utmost solidarity with the Turkish authorities and the Turkish people in these difficult moments', said the President of the Congress. 'In this election period, I express the wish that Turkey will be able to pursue a peaceful path in its democratic development', he added.
