AER Conference “Agenda 2030: Transforming Regions, Changing the World”: Congress workshop on regional and local role in achieving the SDGs

The Congress of Local and Regional Authorities together with United Cities and Local Government (UCLG) is organising a workshop on the importance of regional and local role in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) set out by the UN Agenda 2030. The workshop will take place both in-person in Strasbourg and online from 09:15 to 10:15 CET on 29 October 2021.

How to facilitate the inclusion of regional and local contribution in national action plans? How to develop synergies between regions, local authorities and national institutions? With what competences and resources at regional level to implement the regional action plans? What are the experiences of regional authorities undertaking voluntary regional reviews? These are just some of the issues which will be discussed by Congress and UCLG members participating in the workshop.

The workshop will be part of the Assembly of European Regions’ two-day conference “Agenda 2030: Transforming Regions, Changing the World. On 29 October, Congress President Leendert Verbeek will participate in a panel discussion on “The Way Forward — Achieving Sustainable and Resilient Regions in a Post-Pandemic World”.
