Back Developing plurilingualism in the classroom: From reflection to action

CEFR WEBINAR SERIES 2021 | NUMBER 4
Developing plurilingualism in the classroom: From reflection to action

The fourth webinar of CEFR Webinar Series 2021 entitled "Developing plurilingualism in the classroom: From reflection to action” took place on 3 June 2021.

The workshop focused on the development of plurilingual practices in the classroom. After a presentation of plurilingualism, a concept first presented in the CEFR and further developed in the CEFR Companion volume, participants were invited to consider their own plurilingual profiles and trajectories. They then had the opportunity to consider in break-out groups a series of examples of plurilingual activities, and to discuss and suggest plurilingual practices suitable for their teaching contexts.

The webinar was moderated by Enrica Piccardo. Dr Piccardo is a Professor of Applied Linguistics and Language Education at OISE, University of Toronto. A co-author of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) Companion Volume (Council of Europe, 2020), she has coordinated international projects on language teaching innovation in Canada and Europe. Her research spans language teaching approaches, multi/plurilingualism, creativity and complexity in language education.

Among her publications: Piccardo, E. & North, B. (2019). The Action-oriented Approach. A Dynamic Vision of Language Education Bristol: Multilingual Matters; Piccardo, E., Germain Rutherford A. & Lawrence, G. (2021). The Routledge Handbook of Plurilingual language Education. London: Routledge.
