From 8 to 10 September, the first meeting of the new Steering Committee on Anti-Discrimination, Diversity and Inclusion - CDADI took place. It was attended by almost all member States of the Council of Europe and organised in a hybrid form with some delegations being present in person and the majority participating online.
The CDADI appointed the members to the Expert Committee on Combating Hate Speech ((ADI/MSI-DIS) and the Working Group on Intercultural Integration (GT-ADI-INT) and two working groups on Covid-19 responses in the field of anti-discrimination, national minority and youth participation. It held exchanges of views with the Council of Europe’s Secretary General, the EU Commissioner for Equality and the President of the European Court for Human Rights.
In line with its mandate, it will, among others, start working on a new comprehensive legal instrument on combating hate speech, on a guidance document on responses to the Covid-19 pandemic, steer the Council of Europe’s work on Roma and Travellers and develop a multi-level policy framework for intercultural integration.
