Back Meeting of the Ministers’ Deputies on 3 November 2021

At their 1416th meeting, on 3 November, the Ministers’ Deputies adopted a recommendation of the Committee of Ministers to member States aiming to respond to the radical changes in profiling techniques in the last decade and to the consequent need for additional safeguards to protect personal data and private life of individuals [more information …].

The Deputies took note of the documents of the 2nd Council of Europe Conference of Ministers responsible for Media and Information Society (Nicosia, Cyprus, 10-11 June 2021), together with the Secretary General’s report on the Conference. In the light of the decisions taken at the 131st Session of the Committee of Ministers, the Deputies agreed to pursue efforts to uphold the respect for freedom of expression in Council of Europe member States and beyond, offline as well as online, including in the context of the development, deployment and use of AI tools and other digital technologies, and to promote media freedom.
