At their 1449th meeting, on 23 November, the Ministers’ Deputies adopted the terms of reference of a committee of experts (PC-ENV) which will draft a new Council of Europe Convention on the Protection of the Environment through Criminal Law [more information …]. They also took note of Opinion No. 17 (2022) of the Consultative Council of European Prosecutors (CCPE) on the role of prosecutors in the protection of the environment [more information …], as well as a review carried out by the European Committee on Legal Co-operation (CDCJ) on the implementation of the Council of Europe Plan of Action on Strengthening Judicial Independence and Impartiality (Sofia Action Plan).

In addition, the Deputies held an exchange of views with Ms Alina Orosan, Chair of the Committee of Legal Advisers on Public International Law (CAHDI).
