At their 1351stbis meeting, on 10 July, the Ministers’ Deputies expressed the Council of Europe’s support for the Christchurch Call to Action to Eliminate Terrorist and Violent Extremist Content Online, while recalling the standards of freedom of expression contained in the European Convention on Human Rights and in the case law of the European Court of Human Rights, and drawing attention also to the Committee of Ministers Recommendation to member States on the roles and responsibilities of internet intermediaries.

The Deputies approved an Action Plan for Belarus for the period 2019-2021. The abolition of the death penalty - and a moratorium, as a first step towards it - remains a top priority. In this second Action Plan, the Council of Europe and the authorities of Belarus agree to jointly foster, through co-operation programmes, dialogue on the death penalty, to enhance the effectiveness of the judiciary, to promote European human rights standards, combat corruption and money laundering, promote children’s rights, protect personal data and fight cybercrime.

Finally, the Deputies agreed to a request by the European Union for observer status with the Group of States against Corruption (GRECO) (more information …).
