Human rights experts from Council of Europe member States held an exchange of views with the President of the United Nations Human Rights Council, Ambassador Elisabeth Tichy-Fisslberger, in view of the next session of the Council which will start in Geneva on 24 February.
Opened by the Secretary General of the Council of Europe, Marija Pejčinović Burić, the exchange focused on co-operation between the two Organisations in this field. A discussion then took place on human rights and biotechnology issues, with the participation of Professor Hervé Chneiweiss for the United Nations, Dr Siobhan O'Sullivan for the Council of Europe and Olivier Becht, General Rapporteur of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe on Science and Technology Assessment.
