At the start of the meeting, the Chair expressed the Committee’s condolences and solidarity after the terrorist attacks in Germany and Turkey, the assassination of the Russian Ambassador in Ankara and the several attacks in neighbouring countries. She also paid tribute to Mr Mário Soares, former President of the Republic of Portugal and of the Group of Wise Persons at the Council of Europe, who passed away at the weekend. The Deputies then observed a minute’s silence. 

They held an exchange of views with Ms Gudrun Mosler-Törnström, President of the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of the Council of Europe, concerning the recent and forthcoming activities of the Congress.

Finally, they took note of the conclusions by the co-chairs of the 2016 Exchange on the religious dimension of intercultural dialogue (Strasbourg, 9-10 November 2016).
