On 5 July 2021 representatives of the National Preventive Mechanism (NPM) and of the People’s Advocate Office of the Republic of Moldova (PAO) participated in an online workshop on the review of the NPM reports and provision of recommendations for their improvement.
The workshop follows the development of a methodological guideline for the NPM on drafting effective post-visit reports, which includes recommendations and technical rules for drafting visit reports, structure of the post-visit report, as well as templates and alternative options for constructing these reports.
During the workshop the Council of Europe consultants together with the NPM and PAO representatives discussed the challenges in drafting the visit, thematic and annual reports of the NPM, the external view on the practice of the NPM in the reports’ drafting, the structure, content and technical rules in drafting effective visit reports. Practical exercises and examples on drafting effective visit and annual reports were part of the workshop in which the participants were able to put the theory into practice.
The workshop also resulted in the members of NPM and PAO recognising the methodological guideline for the NPM on drafting effective post-visit reports as a practical tool to be applied by in their daily activity.
The workshop activities and discussions were facilitated by the Council of Europe consultants, Mr George Tugushi and Mr Victor Zaharia.
The online workshop took place within the framework of the Council of Europe project “Strengthening the human rights compliant criminal justice system in the Republic of Moldova”, which is part of the Council of Europe Action Plan for the Republic of Moldova for 2021-2024.
