In the period of 5-6 October 2021, the NGO Association for the Empowerment of Children and Families “AVE Copiii” under the grant agreement with the Council of Europe project Combating violence against children in the Republic of Moldova organised two workshops on Child protection in sport activities. The activity was organised in cooperation with the National Olympic and Sports Committee.

The workshops aimed to raise awareness among participants about the risks of violence against children in sport, in particular sexual exploitation and sexual abuse of children in sport, and measures to address these risks.

During both events participants were familiarized with the theoretical and practical aspects on child protection, international and national regulations, basics of an internal child protection procedure and examples of good practices.

Also, the NGO “AVE Copiii” presented and distributed the Training kit to prevent and react to situations of potential sexual violence against children and young people in sport.

This training kit has been developed as part of the European Union (EU) and Council of Europe (COE) joint project, Pro Safe Sport+ “Put an end to sexual harassment and abuse against children in sport”. It provides information and training content to help those in positions of influence in the field of sport to prevent and react to situations of potential sexual violence in sport.

The event contributes towards achieving the Project’s immediate outcome 1 “Increased awareness on child sexual exploitation and abuse, and the rights of the child in the digital environment”.
