In the period of September – October 2021, the International Center "La Strada" (La Strada), in partnership with the Ministry of Education and Research, launched a campaign to raise awareness of the school community in relation to the risks to which children are exposed online. The campaign is implemented under the grant agreement signed with the Council of Europe project "Combating violence against children in the Republic of Moldova".

The overall objective of the campaign was to provide high visibility of child safety online at the local and national level, through a communication campaign oriented to promote the sharing of responsibilities and best practices of intervention and support.

Under the awareness raising campaign on online child safty, several activities were implemented. In particular: an awareness raising video was recorded to draw attention to online abuse and how it affects children. In addition, an informative video material with the participation of relevant stakeholders, professionals working in education (parents, teachers, psychologists, school managers) to promote a recognized role and need for engagement of school community in promoting safety of children online was developed. Both videos were officially launched and promoted/distributed. Furthermore, an informative brochure was prepared for education professionals (teachers, school psychologists)> The brochure contains relevant tips for first communication with the child, once observed the first warning signs.  Based on it, two thematic workshops for teachers and school psychologists, to generate discussions around the topic and multiply the campaign’s key messages were delivered.

Activities implemented within the grant agreement with the International Centre “La Strada” contribute towards achieving the Project’s immediate outcome 1 “Increased awareness on child sexual abuse and exploitation and the rights of the child in the digital environment”.
