On 25 November 2021 the Council of Europe project Combating violence against children in the Republic of Moldova held the final meeting of the Project Steering Committee in order to present project achievements, discuss the feedback and further steps.

The first part of the Meeting was dedicated to the activities implemented as of February 2021, when the second Steering Committee Meeting took place. These period covered activities related to strengthening the interagency cooperation to respond to violence against children, harmonising legal and policy framework in line with Council of Europe standards, strengthening capacities of professionals to respond to violence against children and promotion of child-friendly practices and awareness raising and prevention. During the second part, partners and stakeholders voiced their feedback and discussed the existing necessities and priorities on protection of children against violence.

The project Combating violence against children in the Republic of Moldova supports strengthening the country’s child protection framework and judicial system with focus on the protection of children against sexual violence, promotion of child-friendly justice practices and the rights of the child in the digital environment. It is closely anchored in the Council of Europe Strategy for the Rights of the Child (2016-2021) and implemented in the framework of the Council of Europe Action Plan for the Republic of Moldova (2017-2020). The project will finalise on 31 December 2021.
