Young filmmakers trained on best European practices on producing short documentaries on human rights

Throughout 6-10 of September, the Council of Europe project “Promoting European standards in the audiovisual regulation of the Republic of Moldova” jointly with the public broadcaster’s Documentary Film Department “Telefilm-Chisinau” organised a five-days training course for interested filmmakers on best European practices for the development of short documentaries on human rights.

The training course was led by international consultant and movie director, Irene Langemann, jointly with the experts from Telefilm-Chisinau. Throughout the five-days training course, participants had the opportunity to develop their incipient short documentaries storylines, as well as strengthen their knowledge and capacities on storytelling, documentary styles, visualisation, and other important elements in the production of a documentary.

The training course culminated with a final presentation of short documentary projects where participants pitched their ideas. Out of 5 pitches of short documentary ideas on human rights, a jury comprised of film experts and representatives from Council of Europe selected three ideas to be developed with Council of Europe support in the upcoming months.

The Project “Promoting European standards in the audiovisual regulation of the Republic of Moldova”, March 2020 – December 2021, supports the National Public Broadcaster in the development of high-quality communications products for all target audiences.
