Improving cooperation between Central Electoral Commission and other electoral stakeholders

The Council of Europe expert presented to the Central Electoral Commission of the Republic of Moldova (CEC) the main findings of the study (assessment) mapping obstacles and conditions for the improvement of cooperation/communication between the CEC and electoral stakeholders.

The assessment has been realised based on the Communication Plan and Strategic Plan for 2020-2023 of the CEC, questioning and interviewing the stakeholders such as political parties, women, youth, civil society, media. The assessment carried out in June -September 2021 managed to capture a behaviour of the stakeholders during both an election campaign for 11 July 2021 early parliamentary elections in the Republic of Moldova and after the elections ended.

The main aim of the assessment is to contribute to the strengthening the capacities of the CEC to operate in the more transparent and inclusive manner, as well as to build up the public trust in electoral institutions and electoral processes in the Republic of Moldova.

Main findings and conclusions of the study will be presented at the Post-election review conference on 28 October 2021. Further the final document will be made public.

This activity is funded and implemented by the Council of Europe Project Improving Electoral Practice in the Republic of Moldova, Phase II.
