The first Kiko and the hand Training for Trainers (ToT) for kindergarten teachers was organised in Chisinau, on 10 – 11 October 2019 by the Council of Europe project on protecting children from sexual exploitation and sexual abuse in the Republic of Moldova.
The TOT aimed to train potential Kiko and the hand master trainers to deliver the second training workshop in January 2020 under the supervision and with support of the Council of Europe trainer and to improve the skills of professionals working with kindergarten and preschool-aged children to detect, prevent and respond to child sexual abuse. The ToT provided concrete tools to break the silence and taboos surrounding child sexual abuse, as well as support to communicate with children, parents and school administration to combat this phenomenon.
Preschool teachers of 18 kindergartens, 2 psychologists and 3 representatives from National Center for Prevention of Child Abuse (CNPAC) were trained by use of an experiential approach to training, particularly by: construction of the main concepts through personal insights about individual experiences, discussion in small groups and with all participants; integration of operative concepts in the professional practice; development of abilities for the facilitation of trainings.
The TOT was organized under the 2nd intermediate outcome of the project ”Strengthened capacities and skills of authorities, professionals and civil society organisations to design and implement effective responses to child sexual exploitation and sexual abuse measures”.
