This workshop, which will be held in Madrid on 17th October 2019, should provide a platform for the discussion of the Spanish and other EU Member States’ experiences with regard to the organisation and functioning of the national victims support systems. The participants will examine the existing models of the organisation of national systems for protection of victims of crime, as well as the current challenges for their good functioning and for ensuring a maximum reach of the support to victims of crime. A particular focus will be on the tools and possible innovations to increase the availability, effectiveness, efficiency and quality of services provided to crime victims. The implementation of modern IT tools and techniques, the rapidly advancing machine learning and artificial intelligence offer vast opportunities and the Ministry of Justice of Spain is decided to take advantage of these opportunities in the areas of justice and crime victim support.
This activity has been carried out in the framework of the Joint Programme “Promoting cyberjustice in Spain through change management and improvement of data collection”, funded by the European Union and the Council of Europe and implemented by the Council of Europe.
