The European Committee on Crime Problems (CDPC) held its plenary meeting from 5 to 7 June

As part of its busy agenda the CDPC:

  • finalised and approved a recommendation concerning restorative justice in criminal matters and forwarded it to the Committee of Ministers for adoption
  • discussed the organisation of a high-level Council of Europe Conference on prison overcrowding in 2019
  • discussed prevention and repression measures to be taken in the area of the smuggling of migrants as a follow-up to the 2017 Council of Europe Conference on the same subject
  • decided to organise a thematic session on "Artificial Intelligence and Criminal Law Responsivity in Council of Europe Member States - the case of autonomous vehicles"
  • considered issues related to the links between organised crime and terrorism
  • discussed the organisation of the 23rd Council of Europe Conference of Directors of Prisons and Probation Services to be held in Jõhvi, Estonia, on 19-20 June 2018

Also, an exchange of views took place with the Chairs or representatives of other Council of Europe Committees on Penitentiary matters, Co-operation in Criminal matters, Cybercrime and Bioethics.
