European Committee on Crime Problems (CDPC) gathers for its 75th plenary meeting

As part of its agenda the CDPC set out priorities for its future work in 2019 and took stock of the state of play in 2018 concerning Penological co-operation, Prison overcrowding, International co-operation in criminal matters, Smuggling of migrants, Cybercrime.

The CDPC had an exchange of views with the representatives of other relevant Council of Europe Bodies, i.e. the Anti-corruption Committee and the Cybercrime Convention Committee.

Also, the CDPC considered the activities related to fighting against Transnational Organised Crime and the relevant Action plan, the links between Organised Crime and Terrorism, the Council of Europe Convention on Offences relating to Cultural Property, Medicrime and Trafficking in human organs.

As part of this Plenary meeting a specific thematic session on Artificial Intelligence and Criminal Law took place on 28 November. The topic of automated driving was studied at the session to illustrate the complexity of the phenomenon and raise awareness about the need for a meaningful approach in legal systems across Europe to deal with this challenging issue.
