Finalisation of draft Opinion No. 14 on

The CCPE has been instructed by the Committee of Ministers to prepare an opinion on "the role of prosecutors in the fight against corruption and economic and financial crime". This opinion will first identify the particular challenges faced by public  as well as individual prosecutors in the fight against corruption and economic and financial crime. It will then consider the requirements and guarantees necessary for this fight, whether institutional (applicable standards, available budgets, the specialisation of prosecutors, the tools at their disposal), or personal (respect for rights during investigations, the duty of integrity, impartiality and independence of prosecutors or the awareness of the very harmful nature of corruption and economic and financial crime).

The CCPE Working Group will meet in Paris on 6 and 7 June to discuss the draft prepared in cooperation with the expert Dr Rainer HORNUNG-JOST (Germany), and finalise the draft for adoption at the CCPE plenary meeting, to be held in Strasbourg from 21 to 23 November 2019.
