Election of the CCJE members to the governing bodies of the European and International Associations of Judges

The Legal Co-operation Division and the CCJE Bureau are delighted to congratulate Judge Duro Sessa (Croatia), member of the CCJE Bureau, and Judge José Igreja Matos (Portugal), member of the CCJE, on the occasion of their recent election within the governing bodies of the European Association of Judges and respectively of the International Association of Judges, and for their tireless commitment to the work of international professional organisations to safeguard the independence of the judiciary. On 11 September 2021, the International Association of Judges which has observer status to the CCJE, held an online meeting of its Central Council, during which Mr Duro Sessa was elected as the President of the European Association of Judges (Mr Sessa is in parallel continuing his functions as the First Vice-President of the International Association of Judges). At the same time, Mr José Igreja Matos (Portugal) was elected as the President of the International Association of Judges.
