On 14-15 November 2019, in Florence/Italy, the Council of Europe will hold a working conference on "Competences in action” - Reference Framework of Competences for Democratic Culture: moving towards a competence-based approach to teaching and learning, in the framework of the education project “Free to Speak, Safe to Learn – Democratic Schools for All”.

The event is organised in cooperation between the Council of Europe - through its Education Department/Education Policy Division - and the University of Firenze, through its Department of Education, Languages, Intercultures, Literatures and Psychology (FORLILPSI), which will also be hosting the event.

This conference will contribute to the implementation of the Council of Europe Reference Framework of Competences for Democratic Culture by offering relevant feedback and training. It will also link to Democratic Schools Network and the important work done on Competences for Democratic Culture in schools by presenting and highlighting their practices. The main participants will be experts and school representatives from across Europe.
