New Head of the Brussels office

Ambassador Zoltan Taubner took up his duties as the Head of the Council of Europe Liaison Office with the EU in Brussels on 15 February 2017.

Ambassador Taubner has been the Council of Europe's Director of External Relations since 2008, having previously spent five years as the Permanent Representative of Hungary to the Council of Europe in Strasbourg.

He has also worked as the Director of the Hungarian Foreign Minister’s Cabinet Office, including during Hungary’s Presidency of the EU, and the Head of the Multilateral Diplomacy and Human Rights Department at the Hungarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Ambassador Taubner replaces Ambassador Torbjørn Frøysnes, who recently returned to Norway after spending eight years at the Council of Europe office Brussels.
