Seminar in Yerevan on the decision-making process regarding medical treatment in end-of-life situations

Ethical issues related to end-of-life medical treatments were the focus of this seminar organised jointly by the National Bioethics Center and the Council of Europe, under the auspices of the Ministry of Health. The seminar was an opportunity to discuss the various problems that can arise in medical treatment at the end of life: how to preserve autonomy and respect the wishes of the patient, how to preserve the patient's interest when he can no longer take in the decision-making process, when the treatment becomes disproportionate or unnecessary, what should be the place of advance directives, etc.
