On April 12, the Chair of the NA Standing Committee on Protection of Human Rights and Public Affairs Taguhi Tovmasyan and the member of Armenian delegation  PACE Hayk Mamijanyan hosted the Head of the Council of Europe Office in Yerevan Martina Schmidt, the Head of the Department for Human Rights, Justice and Legal Cooperation Standard-setting activities at the Directorate General of Human Rights and Rule of Law of the Council of Europe Nicola Daniele Canjemi and the Head of the Human Rights and Biomedicine Division of the Council of Europe Laurence Lwoff.

Welcoming the attendees, Hayk Mamijanyan highlighted the joint work of the Council of Europe and the Parliament of the Republic of Armenia and the necessity of raising awareness on human rights in the sphere of biomedicine and the European standards of the ethical principles in our country. He also touched upon the humanitarian crisis created in Artsakh, the problems of the local Armenians.

Taguhi Tovmasyan and Hayk Mamijanyan reaffirmed that willingness of cooperation with the Council of Europe in the field of biomedicine and human rights.
