All elected members of the Serbian State Prosecutorial Council (SPC) have been trained to communicate better with the media and the public, as part of the Action “Strengthening Legal Guarantees for Independent and Impartial Tribunals”.

The two-day training on media and communication skills for SPC members was implemented as part of the joint Council of Europe/European Union programme Horizontal Facility for Western Balkans and Turkey, and it took place on 26 and 27 July in Vrdnik.

SPC members have gained the necessary skills to address the press and the public through multiple problem-solving exercises, which were facilitated by Bart Rijs, Head of Communications Department at the Netherlands Judicial Council and Ivana Konstantinovic, journalist and media expert.

This activity is part of the action’s larger efforts to provide technical support to the SPC in order to assist them to further build capacities, especially to react to cases of undue pressure on the prosecution service.
