The Council of Europe Office in the Republic of Azerbaijan congratulates Azerbaijani journalists and media workers on the occasion of the 145^th anniversary of the National Press Day, and expresses its strong commitment to continue lending its support and assistance to national efforts in reviewing media and freedom of expression legislation and regulation to bring these in line with the Council of Europe standards, in building capacities to develop new effective self-regulatory mechanisms in the country’s media environment, as well as in promoting ethical standards for media professionals, including gender mainstreaming in the media, notably through its ongoing project on “Reinforcing gender equality and other ethical standards in Azerbaijani media.
