Expert workshop in Yerevan, Armenia

On 28 March 2019, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Armenia and the Council of Europe organised an expert workshop in Yerevan to take stock of ten years of implementation of the Council of Europe Convention on Action against Trafficking in Human Beings by Armenia. The workshop was also an occasion to present two Council of Europe conventions related to trafficking in human beings, the Convention on the Protection of Children against Sexual Exploitation and Sexual Abuse (Lanzarote Convention) and that against Trafficking in Human Organs (Santiago de Compostela Convention), which Armenia has signed but not yet ratified. Participants stressed the positive impact that the ratification of the Convention against Trafficking in Human Beings and the monitoring process associated with it has had on Armenia, and exchanged about remaining gaps and new challenges in the fight against trafficking in human beings.
