GRETA’s report and recommendations concerning Belarus discussed at a round-table in Minsk

A round-table meeting took place on 26 September 2017 in Minsk at the initiative of IPA “Gender Perspectives”/La Strada Belarus, with support from the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Belarus and the Commonwealth of Nations (UK), with a view to presenting GRETA’s recently published first report on the implementation of the Council of Europe Convention on Action against Trafficking in Human Beings by Belarus.

The meeting was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the General Prosecutor's Office, the Supreme Court, the International Organization for Migration, regional committees on labor, employment and social protection, and non-governmental organisations.

Ms Katerina Levchenko, member of the Group of Experts on Combating Human Trafficking (GRETA), made a presentation on GRETA's work, monitoring procedures, and the report and recommendations on Belarus.

Participants discussed the recommendations, the main achievements and challenges in the field of identification and assistance to victims of human trafficking, co-ordination of activities, co-operation with non-governmental organisations, and identification and assistance to child victims of trafficking.
