Contract on the Establishment of the “Court of Cassation Case Law Centre” Signed

The signing ceremony for the establishment of the “Court of Cassation Case Law Centre” was held on 9 March 2022 under the Joint Project on “Strengthening the Institutional Capacity of Court of Cassation”. The “Court of Cassation Case Law Centre” to be established aims to develop a more effective system for the dissemination of guiding and up-to-date judgments.

The contract on the establishment of a case law centre within the Court of Cassation was signed by Dr Mustafa Saldırım, Deputy Secretary General on behalf of the Court of Cassation and Mr Cristian Urse, Head of Programme Office in Ankara on behalf of the Council of Europe.

At the ceremony, Mr Mehmet Akarca, President of the Court of Cassation indicated that the artificial intelligence-supported system would facilitate the accurate and efficient dissemination of case law and would support the Court of Cassation in the fulfilment of its duty of ensuring case law unity.

The Court of Cassation Case Law Centre, which is planned to be open to the public as well as legal practitioners such as lawyers, judges, and public prosecutors, is expected to become fully operational in 2023.

The Joint Project on “Strengthening the Institutional Capacity of Court of Cassation” is co-funded by the European Union and the Council of Europe and the Court of Cassation of Turkey is the end beneficiary of the Project.
