First placements of five legal professional with the Council of Europe (COE) and the European Court (ECtHR) under the SCOBAL Project came to their end. The lawyers were placed for two months with the COE’s Execution Department, HELP Unit and European Court of Human Rights.
The placements aimed to help local Turkish bar associations and the UTBA to develop their human resources capacities in the field of human rights.
These placements served as a great opportunity for Turkish lawyers dealing with human rights to understand better the functioning and procedures of the mentioned institutions and deepen their knowledge of the human rights standards and principles applied by these institutions. they also benefited from other COE host institutions, which will enhance their substantive knowledge in specific human rights fields. These encouraged professionals are looking forward to sharing their experience with other colleagues upon their return home.
The SCOBAL Project envisages placement of total 24 lawyers - representatives from the pilot bar associations and the UTBA in various departments of the COE/ECtHR and human right centres of bar associations in various European countries, including international lawyer organisations.
