HELP TRAINING OF TRAINERS ORGANISED

The Council of Europe Programme Office in Ankara has organised an online HELP training of trainers of the Justice Academy of Turkey on 24-25 June 2021.

The online training started with opening remarks by Mr Muhittin Özdemir, President of the Justice Academy of Turkey, Eva Pastrana, Head of the Council of Europe HELP Unit and Mr Cristian Urse, Head of the Council of Europe Programme Office in Ankara.

This online training has been developed as an advance-level training of trainers in consideration of the participants’ experiences and backgrounds. During the training, consultants involved in adaptation studies of 3 HELP courses “Procedural Safeguards in Criminal Proceedings and Victims’ Rights”, “Alternative Measures to Detention” and “Reasoning of Criminal Judgments” provided information on how these courses were adapted to Turkish context.

Additionally, participants were provided information on the HELP Platform and HELP Methodology including but not limited to the contents and development of HELP courses and topics related to monitoring and evaluation.

This online training will contribute to the establishment of a sustainable mechanism for delivering efficient training on criminal justice system as well as the efforts to ensure training of 300 judges and prosecutors.

This training of trainers was organized under the EU/CoE Joint Project “Strengthening the Criminal Justice System and the Capacity of Justice Professionals on Prevention of the European Convention on Human Rights Violations
