The 3rd Steering Committee Meeting of the European Union-Council of Europe Joint Project on “Supporting the Effective Implementation of Turkish Constitutional Court Judgments in the Field of Fundamental Rights” was held online on 7 September 2022. Pınar Başpınar, Acting Head of the Council of Europe Ankara Program Office, Yücel Arslan, Deputy Secretary General of the Turkish Constitutional Court and Maria Stogova, Sector Manager from the Delegation of the European Union to Turkey addressed the meeting, which continued with the joint presentation of the Project Coordinator Könül Gasimova and Project Manager Çağlar Kıran on the progress of the project.
General information on the implementation of the activities carried between 26 May – 7 September 2022 (such as the organisation of regional roundtable meetings, international study visits, interagency coordination meeting for stakeholder institutions, completion of expert reports on the best European practices on organisation of the execution of the decisions of Constitutional Courts and on reducing case-law backlog, translation and adaptation of a HELP distance-learning course) was shared with the participants. . Planned activities for the upcoming period were also presented.
The meeting was held with the active participation of the stakeholders, of which all expressed their appreciation and thanked the project team for the progress made and the good and efficient cooperation.
The Joint Project on “Supporting the Effective Implementation of Turkish Constitutional Court Judgments in the Field of Fundamental Rights” is co-funded by the European Union and the Council of Europe and implemented by the Council of Europe. The Turkish Constitutional Court is the end beneficiary of the Project.
