Zurück Venice Commission plenary session

Venice Commission plenary session

The Council of Europe’s body of constitutional legal experts, the Venice Commission, is holding its plenary session from 11-12 March. Interim opinions on draft laws regarding the influence of oligarchs in Ukraine, Georgia and the Republic of Moldova are expected to be adopted. The Venice Commission should also adopt three further opinions for the Republic of Moldova: on a draft law on counter-intelligence and external intelligence activity, on a draft law on the Intelligence and Security Service and a joint opinion with the Council of Europe’s Directorate General of Human Rights and Rule of Law on a draft law on the external assessment (vetting) of judges and prosecutors.

The constitutional experts also should adopt a draft joint opinion with OSCE/ODHIR on the Law on Political Parties in Azerbaijan, a follow-up opinion on draft amendments to the law on the Judicial Council and Judges of Montenegro, and a follow-up opinion on four earlier opinions to amendments to the Organic Law on Common Courts in Georgia.

These and other opinions will be published next week following the session on the Venice Commission website page under "recent documents".
